Teenager Thijs Boogaard made a stunning impact on home turf as he shocked Yibing Wu at the Libema Open.

The 17-year-old world number 779 scored an impressive 6-3 2-6 6-4 success over the Chinese to earn a shot at former US Open champion Daniil Medvedev.

The Russian, a former finalist here in 2022, will be determined to put what was ultimately a disappointing clay swing behind him and we just don’t see Boogaard being able to raise his game once again in what is only the third main draw match of his fledgling career. 

Medvedev has generally shown a real improvement this year and he’s far more potent on the grass.
