Daniil Medvedev vs Reilly Opelka prediction

Daniil Medvedev remained patient and composed as he wore down Adrian Mannarino to reach the last eight.

The top seed saved set points in the opener before edging to a 7-6 6-4 victory against the French veteran.

Medvedev now meets another lucky loser in the shape of big-serving American Reilly Opelka.

The pair have met on five previous occasions with the Russian leading the match-up 4-1, although this will be their first showdown on grass.

Medvedev certainly has more quality on the return but will need to remain strong on serve to avoid giving the American any impetus, especially if he has good rhythm on the first delivery.

Opelka looked good in wins over Jesper de Jong and Nicolas Jarry but can’t afford to get drawn into many long rallies with the former world number one, who very much has the edge from the baseline.

Medvedev should get the job done here but it may be worth a flutter on number of tie breaks as both players are no strangers to landing their first serves regularly.
