Daniil Medvedev vs Quentin Halys prediction

Daniil Medvedev, the 11th seed in this year’s Australian Open defeated Jesper De Jong in the first round, doing so in straight sets. Second round opponent Quentin Halys was also a straight sets winner, dropping just four games across the opening two sets of his match against Alejandro Tabilo before winning the third set via a tie-breaker.

Halys was clinical when he needed to be, winning four out of seven break points generated, whilst also winning 84% of points that saw his first serve land in. However, only 56% of those first serves across the match wound up not being faulted and that figure must come up if he is to really trouble a player of Medvedev’s quality.

Medvedev will look to utilise his power effectively, not to mention his knowledge of Halys as an opponent having got the better of him twice already in the past, one of those times being on a hard-court surface. He should prove too strong for Halys here but don’t be surprised to see the Frenchman pick up a set.
