Daniil Medvedev vs Marton Fucsovics prediction

Daniil Medvedev will be hoping for an improved 2026 as he gets ready to begin his season in Brisbane. The former world number one endured one of the most disappointing campaigns of his career last season as he dropped out of the top 10 and won just one Grand Slam match. After a coaching change following his first-round exit at the US Open, Medvedev improved, making the quarter-finals in Shanghai and the last four in Paris, along with his first title since May 2023 in Almaty. 

Marton Fucsovics is his first-round opponent. The Hungarian was inconsistent last season but did pick up a title in Winston-Salem, while he also got through to the semi-finals in Bucharest all the way back in April.

Medvedev leads the head-to-head 4-1 and 1-0 on outdoor hard court. Their last match was in the second-round of Miami two years ago, with the Russian comfortably winning in straight sets. He has a point to prove this season and is heavily favoured to begin proceedings with a comfortable victory.
