The former finalist swept to a 6-3 6-2 win over the Chinese qualifier to set a clash with lucky loser Corentin Moutet.
The Frenchman continued to make the most of his reprieve by downing 2023 champion Dan Evans 6-2 7-6.
This will be just their second meeting with Medvedev easing to a 6-4 6-2 success in Mallorca back in 2021.
Moutet is full of variety and shot-making but he lacks the consistency of the Russian eighth seed, who also has more power.
