Daniel Altmaier vs Marcos Giron prediction

Daniel Altmaier is without a win in his last three matches as he prepares for the Paris Masters. In fairness to the German, two of those defeats have been to world number two Jannik Sinner, who beat him in Shanghai and Vienna, but the other loss was more disappointing, to Gilles Arnaud Bailly in round one of the European Open. Altmaier impressed at Roland Garros back in May as he got through to the round-of-16 for the second time in his career. It should also be pointed out that his indoor form during the earlier part of the campaign was strong, as he made the quarter-finals in Rotterdam and Marseille.

His first-round opponent is Marcos Giron. The American has two losses from his last three matches. He advanced to round two of the European Open but lost a tight match against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and then was defeated in the first-round of the Swiss Indoors by Denis Shapovalov. Shapovalov won in the third set tiebreak. Giron has been on the end of some close defeats recently, but he’s been pretty consistent on tour, with five quarter-final appearances in 2025.

Giron is performing at a higher level right now, even if the results aren’t necessarily showing it. He will start this first-round match as the favourite.
