Daniel Altmaier vs Juan Manuel Cerundolo prediction
Daniel Altmaier is still searching for his first win of 2026 after three straight losses. It’s been a concerning start for the German, as he failed to win a set in any of those matches. He was defeated by Kamil Majchrzak and Jaume Munar in Brisbane and Adelaide respectively, before a straight sets loss to Marin Cilic in the first-round of the Australian Open. Altmaier now returns to the clay courts, having got through to the round-of-16 at Roland Garros on two previous occasions. He has also won six Challenger titles on the surface.
Juan Manuel Cerundolo is his first-round opponent in Buenos Aires. The Argentine does have form heading into this event, as he got through to the last four in the Rosario Challenger. He won three straight matches before a loss to Camilo Ugo Carabelli.
They have played on four previous occasions at Challenger level, with Altmaier leading 3-1. Cerundolo does have the upper hand in terms of recent performances, but Altmaier will be determined to pick up his first win of the season on his favoured surface.
