Daniel Altmaier vs Frances Tiafoe prediction

Daniel Altmaier continued his best ever run on grass as he pulled off an upset by beating former world number one Daniil Medvedev in the Halle Open quarter-finals. Altmaier went ahead after the first set and was just a few points away from victory in the second set tiebreak, but Medvedev fought back to level proceedings. Altmaier failed to serve out the match, but then broke the Russian in the subsequent service game to seal a 6-4 6-7 (6) 6-4 win.

He will now face Frances Tiafoe after he knocked out top seed Felix Auger-Aliassime. The match went to a deciding set tiebreak, with the American saving a total of four match points and going on to win 3-6 6-3 7-6 (12) after two hours and 32 minutes.

Tiafoe leads the head-to-head 4-0 and 1-0 on grass. They played each other just over a week ago in the first-round of the Stuttgart Open, with Tiafoe prevailing in three sets. Altmaier’s variety has caused problems for a number of players this week, and Tiafoe is likely to be tested once again.
