Daniel Altmaier impressed in Paris as he beat Marcos Giron and three-time Grand Slam finalist Casper Ruud without the drop of a set to get through to the third-round. He took the first set against Felix Auger-Aliassime but the Canadian began to dominate after that and came back to win.
Arthur Rinderknech competed in Paris, his first event since making the final of the Shanghai Masters right at the start of October. He won his first-round match against Fabian Marozsan, despite being behind in both sets. He would face his cousin Valentin Vacherot yet again, in a rematch of the final in Shangahi, and there was to be a repeat as the Monegasque came from a set down to win.
Rinderknech will want to end the best season of his career strongly and has enough firepower to be a dangerous player in these indoor conditions. Altmaier will be a test, but the Frenchman starts as the favourite.
