Dane Sweeny vs Grigor Dimitrov prediction
Dane Sweeny enters the main draw after winning all three of his qualifying matches. He defeated Tomas Barrios Vera in a five set epic to ensure his place at the Championships. The 25-year-old also reached the semi-finals in Ilkley earlier this month. Sweeny won a Challenger title in Brisbane at the start of the year, and beat Gael Monfils in the first-round of the Australian Open.
He faces Grigor Dimitrov. The Bulgarian, who reached the semi-finals in 2014, received a wildcard. He made his first appearance at this event back in 2009. Dimitrov’s preparation saw him compete in Dublin on the Challenger Tour, progressing to the quarter-finals. He then played in Mallorca and won consecutive tour-level matches for the first time this season, losing in the last eight to eventual winner Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in straight sets.
Dimitrov’s recent record at Wimbledon is excellent, having progressed to the round-of-16 in each of the last three editions. If he is fully fit, he will be expected to have too much for Sweeny.
