Carlos Petruzzella: "El Tito" debuts on the Contender Series in search of another brutal finish
With all 15 of his wins coming by way of finish, Carlos Petruzzella (15-1) clearly isn’t a fan of the judges’ scorecards. A dynamic striker who isn’t afraid to grapple offensively and go for submissions, Petruzzella is extremely aggressive, charging forward and hurling the kitchen sink at his opponents in an attempt to get them out of there. However, while he’s looked nothing short of unstoppable on the Argentinian regional circuit, “El Tito’s” sole foray into a quality promotion did not end well; Petruzzella was flatlined with a first round overhand in his first and only appearance in LFA.
Nick Galanti: The grappling whizz aiming to make a statement
Currently riding a five fight win streak, CFFC champion, Nick Galanti (7-1) makes the walk in search of the biggest win of his career. An ever present submission threat who utilizes trips and dumps to drag his opponents into his world, the 28 year old American has five finishes to his name and has never been stopped. It’s also worth noting that he has a victory on the grappling circuit against former UFC fighter, Phil Rowe. Galanti has fought solid levels of competition in his young career, most recently earning a decision to snatch the “0” of undefeated prospect, Austin Clayton.

I’ve got Galanti here. Petruzzella has wowed on the regional circuit in Argentina, but he’s been fighting pretty dismal levels of competition. His only bout against a quality opponent ended in disastrous fashion and I think that speaks volumes to his chances here.
Granted, Galanti doesn’t present a huge KO threat on the feet, but I think he’s going to be levels above anybody that “El Tito” has faced when it comes to the grappling. He’s a relentless takedown artist with excellent BJJ, and while Petruzzella has occasionally managed to find submissions when he’s been grounded, those wins haven’t come over anybody that makes me think he’s likely to catch Galanti napping here.
Petruzzella is fast, powerful, and aggressive; it’s not out of the realms of possibility that he manages to catch Galanti with something before the American has a chance to get going. However, I think that aggression could work against him here, allowing Galanti to duck under and secure a takedown. Once that happens, I believe it’s going to be fairly elementary from there.
