Dan Evans vs Jay Clarke prediction
Dan Evans has enjoyed a renaissance of sorts on grass over the past few weeks. The former British one’s ranking had plummeted to 221 last month but he’s pulled off some brilliant wins recently. A second-round appearance at the Libema Open was backed up by a fantastic win over world number 13 Frances Tiafoe at Queen’s Club. He battled away against Brandon Nakashima in the next round but lost out in straight sets. Evans then defeated two top 50 players in Miomir Kecmanovic and Tommy Paul to reach the Eastbourne quarter-finals.
Jay Clarke, by contrast, has really struggled. He is currently on a four-match losing streak on grass after early losses in Birmingham, Ilkley and at Queen’s Club and the Eastbourne International. He has got past the first-round of Wimbledon before but that occurred six years ago in 2019.
Evans is enjoying his best run of form for some time and the 34-year-old will be desperate to perform well at Wimbledon with his future uncertain. Clarke is low on confidence and is unlikely to be much of a threat for the former British number one.
