Dan Evans vs Brandon Nakashima prediction
Dan Evans pulled off the shock of the first-round at Queen’s Club as he defeated seventh seed and recent French Open quarter-finalist Frances Tiafoe in straight sets. Evans edged a close first set and dominated the second to win 7-5 6-2. The Brit utilised his backhand slice to great effect and was very solid from the back of the court. This was his first victory over a top 10 player in two years.
The world number 199 now faces Brandon Nakashima. The American came from a set down to beat big serving Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. Nakashima lost a mammoth first set tiebreak but recovered well to win 6-7 7-5 6-4.
Nakashima leads the head-to-head 3-1. They played their only match on grass in the first-round of this competition last year. Evans was forced to retire with the score at one set all. The 34-year-old will have great home support and will take a lot of confidence from his victory over Tiafoe.
Nakashima’s consistency may just give him the edge, but this could be a close one.
Dan Evans vs Brandon Nakashima tip: Brandon Nakashima to win 2-1
