Damir Dzumhur’s Asian swing has not been a success so far, as he’s lost his two first-round matches. In Hangzhou, he was comfortably defeated by Tomas Martin Etcheverry and it wasn’t much better for the Bosnian in Beijing, as he lost to Aleksandar Vukic in three sets. His best form of the campaign was during the clay court season, where he reached two ATP semi-finals and two quarter-finals on the surface.

Christipher O’Connell’s last event was in Beijing, but he couldn’t get through to the main draw after a defeat to Botic van de Zandschulp. That 6-2 6-2 loss would have been a disappointment for the Australian after he had built up some decent form in the first leg of the Asian swing, making the semi-finals of the Guangzhou Challenger and following it up with a late eight finish in Chengdu. Those stand as his best results of the season.

O’Connell will look to get back to winning ways with a first-round victory against an out-of-form Dzumhur.
