Cristina Bucsa vs McCartney Kessler prediction

Cristina Bucsa qualified for this tournament with two wins. Her Asian swing has been largely unimpressive, with her best result coming at the Beijing Open as she managed to qualify for the tournament and win her first-round match, but she was beaten comfortably by Emma Raducanu in the next stage. The Spaniard then failed to qualify for the Wuhan Open and lost in the first-round in Osaka. She did achieve her best result of the campaign at the US Open, as she reached the round-of-16.

Her first-round opponent is McCartney Kessler. The American last competed in Ningbo last week and advanced to the quarter-final stage, where she lost to Ekaterina Alexandrova. She was also a set away from getting to the last eight in Beijing but went on to lose to Eva Lys. She has won two titles this year and is close to breaking into the top 30.

Kessler leads the head-to-head 1-0 after a tight win earlier this year in Austin and she will be a commanding favourite to register another victory here.
