Cristina Bucsa vs Maja Chwalinska prediction

Cristina Bucsa ended an eight-match losing run at the Cincinnati Open as she won her first-round match against Panna Udvardy. The Spaniard lost five games in a row at one point as Udvardy won the second set, but she showed brilliant resolve to break the Hungarian’s serve in the 12th game of the decider to win 6-2 1-6 7-5. Her form has dropped off alarmingly since her title run at the Merida Open, but Bucsa will now be hoping for greater consistency during the rest of the year.

Her next opponent is Maja Chwalinska. The Roland Garros finalist received a bye in the first-round. She lost her opening match at the Canadian Open after a defeat to Talia Gibson. She is still searching for her first win since reaching the final in Paris back in June.

They last faced each other in the qualifying stages of the Madrid Open last year, with Bucsa winning in straight sets. Chwalinska is yet to prove herself on this surface or at WTA 1000 level, but Bucsa was on a terrible run before her first-round result.
