Cristina Bucsa vs Darja Vidmanova prediction

Cristina Bucsa headed into the Merida Open on the back of five straight defeats. However, the Spaniard suddenly found form as she won four matches in a row to make the final. This included a straight sets win over top seed Jasmine Paolini. Bucsa held off a fightback from Magdalena Frech to win her first tour-level title, and she is now up to 31 in the world, her highest ever rankings. 

Darja Vidmanova is her first-round opponent. The young Czech has found form at WTA 125 events in recent weeks, with a final appearance in Oerias backed up by a run to the semi-finals in Midland. Vidmanova then qualified for this event with two straight set wins over Martina Trevisan and Priscilla Hon.

Bucsa is the clear favourite after her success last week, but she may experience a dip in her level after the biggest week of her career so far. Vidmanova does have form leading into this, and could stretch the match into three sets
