Cristina Bucsa vs Victoria Mboko prediction

Victoria Mboko has a chance to end 2025 with a second WTA title after hitting back to beat Leylah Fernandez in a high-octane semi-final. 

The 19-year-old upset her fellow Canadian 2-6 6-3 6-2 to mark her best run since returning from injury in real style. 

The third seed will now face Cristina Bucsa in a showdown for the trophy after the Spaniard claimed a place in her first WTA final with a stunning 6-3 6-1 win over an in-form Maya Joint.

The victory ensured 2025 will go down as the world number 68’s best season and she will crack the top 50 for the first time if she can go on to lift the trophy. 

Mboko won their only previous encounter 6-3 6-2 in Madrid earlier this year and although Bucsa is in excellent form at this tournament, the Canadian teenager’s best level is that much higher. 

Nerves could also play a part for Bucsa in the biggest match of her career and it may well mirror their first meeting given Mboko’s experience of having lifted a bigger title in Montreal.
