THE LOWDOWN

MUMBAI INDIANS

  • Mumbai Indians couldn’t have asked for a better start to the inaugural WPL, dominating Gujarat Giants in the opening match and winning by a resounding 143 runs.
  • One of the stars within the Mumbai Indians team is captain Harmanpreet Kaur and it was no surprise that the India skipper led the charge with the bat for her side, striking 65 as Mumbai racked up 207/5 before bowling Gujarat out for just 64, Saika Ishaque picking up four wickets.

ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE

  • Royal Challengers Bangalore men were heavily beaten many years ago in their first ever IPL fixture and fast forward to 2023, the same fate was to befell their women’s team in their opening fixture as a WPL side.
  • Their bowlers were taken to the cleaners by Delhi Capitals, conceding 223 with just two wickets taken, before the RCB batters could only respond with 163/8, leading to a 60-run defeat.

THE PREDICTION

The Mumbai Indians' batters who have already impressed significantly, will be very excited about the prospect of facing a Royal Challengers Bangalore bowling attack who were put to the sword at the weekend by Delhi. It wouldn’t be shock to see Mumbai afforded similar success and whilst RCB should put up far more of a challenge than Gujarat, especially when you factor in the quality of batting at their disposal, Mumbai Indians should still do enough to emerge victorious.
