WEST INDIES
- West Indies sealed the series on Friday with a solid enough performance though while they were in control for most of the game, it did come down to the wire after they lost a couple of wickets to create a little bit of panic.
- The opening partnership of Evin Lewis and Shai Hope continues to produce the goods as they shared a mammoth stand of 192 and they continue to lay the platform for their victories in this ODI series as they look so comfortable against the tourists’ bowling unit.
- They could possibly decide to rotate one or two players now that they have the series in the bag so Kevin Sinclair or Kyle Mayers could potentially be handed a start in the team if they do switch things up a little.
SRI LANKA
- Sri Lanka were found wanting once again in the second ODI as their total batting first proved far too short for a second game in a row so they are going to have to try to take more chances and score more heavily in this dead rubber.
- Danushka Gunathilaka produced an excellent knock of 96 from 96 balls but not enough of the players around him could contribute heavily enough with only Dinesh Chandimal’s 71 being solid but not quick enough ultimately.
- They made a couple of changes for the second game with Thisara Perera doing well with three wickets but Oshada Fernando could only manage two runs and it would be no surprise if they made further changes for this final game.
THE PREDICTION
The hosts have clearly been the better side in this ODI series so far and even though the series has been wrapped up, they have to be favoured to seal the whitewash here. They have been in control throughout virtually the entirety of the two games played so far and it would take something remarkable from Sri Lanka or a degree of complacency from the Windies to lose this one. They have won both games with plenty in the tank and with good competition in the camp, that should help them avoid complacency. Expect another strong display and a third win in a row for the Windies.
