THE PREDICTION
Both these sides remain undefeated going into this third round with Warwickshire having enjoyed a week off following their draw against Surrey, whilst Essex are coming off the back of a nail-biting one wicket victory over Somerset at Taunton, in which they almost failed to chase down a winning target of just 84 on a bowler-friendly surface with Craig Overton and Peter Siddle bowling brilliantly at them. However, Essex got through it and should have far more joy with the bat at Edgbaston on what you would expect to be another excellent batting surface. Warwickshire proved their metal against Surrey, their lower order doing brilliant to offset any fears of a total collapse which will serve them well going forward. Another high-scoring contest appears in the air similar to what we saw when Warwickshire hosted Surrey and as was the case in that one, it is the draw that must be favoured between these two counties.
