THE PREDICTION

Manchester Originals have been riding the crest of a wave and so far, no side in the men’s Hundred has been able to knock them off it. They’ve timed their winning run to absolute perfection and a sixth successive triumph in Friday’s Eliminator sets up this final against group winners Trent Rockets. Lewis Gregory’s men were the only team to win six of their eight fixtures and the fantastic form of their top order batters has played a huge part in their success. However, the bowling attack will not be at full-strength come the final with Rashid Khan at the Asia Cup and Tabraiz Shamsi at the Caribbean Premier League. Whilst off-spin bowler Matt Carter is a good player and a perfectly solid replacement if he were to come in as expected, it would be no surprise in a final such as this if the lack of a world class wrist-spinner was to cost the Rockets here. We say it countless times, but so often a short form tournament that takes place in a short space of time isn’t won by the most consistent side, but rather the side with the superior momentum coming into the final. Manchester Originals’ victory over London Spirit in the Eliminator only adds weight to that theory and it is them who should be favoured to come out on top in this final.
