OVAL INVINCIBLES MEN
- Oval Invincibles tasted defeat for the first time this past Saturday, falling to a narrow six-wicket loss at the hands of Northern Superchargers at Emerald Headingley.
- An unbeaten half-century from England limited overs regular Jason Roy at the top of the order wasn’t enough to propel Sam Billings’ side to a substantial enough total and the likes of South African Colin Ingram and opener Will Jacks could find their places in the team under threat unless they can hit a substantial individual score soon.
- The Invincibles were boosted by Saqib Mahmood’s recovery from an injury sustained in the opening men’s fixture of the Hundred and the Lancashire fast bowler took two wickets for just 19 runs from his set of 20 balls, underlying his importance to the side.
WELSH FIRE MEN
- After two straight wins, Welsh Fire fell to their first defeat of the men’s Hundred after failing to defend a total of 150/6 at home to Manchester Originals.
- Failing to take wickets proved the Fire’s ultimately downfall, their bowlers picking up just three scalps as the Originals took advantage of an excellent pitch to see themselves home with five deliveries spare.

THE PREDICTION
As expected, Welsh Fire failed to get a sufficient amount of runs on the board in their first fixture without the presence of Jonny Bairstow at the top of the order and this ultimately cost them, as their weak bowling attack were unable to keep a lid on the Originals’ chase. Ngidi not coming over to play is a a further blow to Welsh Fire's bowling resources, however the visitors would have been sacrificing a strong middle order hitter in Neesham to accommodate the South African. However, Oval Invincibles’ with the likes of Saqib, Sunil Narine, Reece Topley and Tom Curran boasts a bowling unit that should restrict Welsh Fire to a modest score with the bat, leading to an eventual home win, thus maintaining their unbeaten record in London.
