THE PREDICTION

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots may have finished fourth in the group stage after winning just one match, but when it really mattered, they triumphed over group winners Jamaica Tallawahs to book their place in the men’s 6ixty final against an in-form Trinbago Knight Riders. The last time they collided, Trinbago won an absolute thriller by just three wins and it would be no surprise to see a similarly close battle here. After losing their first game, the Knight Riders are three from three and their big guns are performing when it matters. However, you can’t help but think that Chris Gayle, the ‘Universe Boss’ and brand ambassador for the 6ixty will have a huge part to play in this final alongside the likes of Fabian Allen, who smashed 82 not out earlier in the day vs the Tallawahs. They’ve had to wait a long time for the final though and it remains to be seen if that will have a negative effect on the Patriots, with Trinbago having played after them. Ultimately, the consistency of Trinbago Knight Riders, not to mention the all-round individual star power with bat and especially ball (arguably more crucial in a big final) makes them the team worth backing to emerge as men’s 6ixty champions.
