THE PREDICTION
Yorkshire Vikings are likely to once again be hampered by international callups throughout this Blast season, but are at least expected to line-up in their opening match with a decent squad. Adil Rashid is likely to play whilst the Pakistan overseas duo of Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf should also feature, although the latter is struggling with injury. However, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root and Harry Brook are all likely to have joined up with the England test squad and David Willey remains at the IPL, so the Vikings are low on star power. Worcestershire Rapids however, can come into this opening match with quiet confidence, having recruited the power hitting of Colin Munroe and the experience of all-rounder Dwayne Bravo. The outcome here is likely to be defined by availability on both sides, something which is likely to become a theme throughout this year’s Blast. Should the brilliant Moeen Ali have returned from IPL duty in time to captain the Rapids here, then backing them may well prove a smart move especially if the likes of Rauf and Brook are unavailable.
