THE LOWDOWN

Notts Outlaws needed more than a bit of good fortune to edge their way to finals day, after an awful misfield allowed them to scamper two runs off the last ball to force a tie against Leicestershire Foxes, which was enough to see the Outlaws through to the semi-finals by virtue of a higher powerplay score. Lancashire Lightning meanwhile, got through their quarter-final in far more convincing style, after beating Sussex Sharks 45 runs in an excellent team performance at Hove.

THE PREDICTION

The Outlaws may contain some serious power hitting with the likes of Alex Hales at the top of the order and Dan Christian in the middle order alongside Ben Duckett and the old stalwart Samit Patel. However, Notts flattered to deceive in the quarter-finals whereas Lancashire look bang in-form with leg-spinner Matt Parkinson, fast bowler Saqib Mahmood and all-rounder Liam Livingstone forming the spine of a strong side. Rain looks like playing spoiler if the weather forecast is anything to go by, but should the two teams get out onto the pitch then it’s the Lightning who should come out on top in this one.
