THE LOWDOWN
Yorkshire Vikings will be significantly weakened by the loss of batters Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan and Joe Root to England duty, although the likes of Harry Brook and Tom Kohler-Cadmore will provide a significant amount of firepower with the willow, whilst both New Zealand international Lockie Ferguson and England’s premier limited overs spin-bowler Adil Rashid are available for selection. Sussex Sharks will welcome back George Garton, Chris Jordan, Tymal Mills, Archie Lenham and Delray Rawlins fresh from their trophy winning exploits for Southern Brave in the men’s Hundred that saw Garton, Mills and Jordan all play starring roles with the ball. Overseas star Rashid Khan is also expected to feature for the Sharks.
THE PREDICTION
Due to the third test between England and India taking place at Emerald Headingley, this T20 Blast quarter-final will be contested at Emirates Riverside, a ground with bigger boundaries and a pitch that is expected to prove harder to bat on than the usual flat decks prepared for T20 over cricket in Leeds. This should work in the favour of Sussex Sharks, who boast a far superior bowling attack to Yorkshire Vikings and the likes of pace bowlers Jordan and Mills combined with the spin of Rashid should nullify the Vikings’ batters sufficiently enough to see the Sharks come out on the winning side of this one.
