This is a London derby between two of England’s grandest counties enduring terrible spells that go back further than just this season. Surrey look a different side without their England players but they will be able to welcome Rory Burns and Ollie Pope into this match whilst Middlesex are struggling to just get over the line. Surrey will always remain in contention due to the individual quality and pedigree of their squad, even without their England white-ball players, whilst Middlesex’s entire structure strikes of incoherence and laziness.
