THE LOWDOWN
The home team come into this on the back of an excellent performance and result against Surrey on Wednesday. An attack led by Jack Leach, unusual for Somerset in white-ball cricket in recent times, was supplemented by some tight spells by Craig Overton, Josh Davey and Max Waller. They managed to chase 147 in less than 19 overs but the form of Tom Banton continued to confuse and potentially concern. They come up against a Hampshire Hawks side that have had their last two matches abandoned due to rain but that does now mean they are technically winless in four games. They have won just one game all season with what looks to be a fairly thin side that have now lost Liam Dawson as well to England duty.
THE PREDICTION
This is a side that has become used to winning in all competitions over recent seasons against one that has some personnel that could quite easily play Test cricket but have struggled for consistency and cohesion. That theme has continued into this season’s T20 Blast for both sides, as well. Somerset should come into this as the favourites against a Hampshire side yet to land on a formula to maximise their strong opening partnership of James Vince and D’Arcy Short.
