THE LOWDOWN
A remarkable tie between Lancashire Lightning and Notts Outlaws at the weekend saw the Outlaws steal a point from a seemingly impossible situation. Some strong death bowling managed to restrict the Lightning to level scores and that means the Outlaws have lost just one of their opening six matches including two ties. They come up against a Worcestershire Rapids side with whom they shared an opening match draw at New Road. Since then, the Rapids have also lost just one of their next few matches but did lose badly at home to Yorkshire Vikings last week before having a home match against Northamptonshire Steelbacks abandoned due to rain.
THE PREDICTION
The opening few weeks of the Blast have seen all of the England white-ball players in action but they now return to the England camp so the visitors will be without Moeen Ali. However, Notts get to keep hold of their star men so Alex Hales and Joe Clarke at the top-of-the-order looks like one of, if not the, most formidable in the competition at the moment. Hales’ international performances at his home ground of Trent Bridge have been sensational and any Worcester score seems unlikely to be enough against that Outlaws lineup; therefore, a home win seems likely.
