THE LOWDOWN
Over the last few years, the grand old club of Middlesex has begun to look extremely grand and old; in a negative way. On-the-field decay and lacklustre ‘taking it for granted’ has given way to sheer mismanagement of the cricket team. In all formats, Middlesex are one of, if not the worst, all-round sides in the country. They come up against a Glamorgan team that are heavily reliant on Marnus Labuschagne as the Australian batsman nears 300 runs. The Welsh county haven’t been in excellent form themselves but come into this match four points ahead of Middlesex.
THE PREDICTION
The visitors will come into this as the favourites but no prolific wicket-taker could be damaging given Stephen Eskinazi’s unbeaten century against Surrey on Friday. Dan Douthwaite and the rest of the Glamorgan attack were taking apart by New Zealand and Gloucestershire’s Glenn Phillips last week and there will be concern of a repeat. Outside of Eskinazi and Joe Cracknell, though, Glamorgan don’t really have much to worry about and they should win this one.
