THE LOWDOWN
The Spitfires could’ve planned the start and even the bulk of their Blast campaign around Sam Billings, Mohammad Amir and Zak Crawley but all three are now currently unavailable. Despite that, they still pulled off an impressive 38-run victory at Canterbury on Wednesday against Hampshire. A top three of Denly, Bell-Drummond and Robinson is followed by an impressive middle-order featuring Jordan Cox and Darren Stevens. They come up against a Middlesex side who have World Cup winning captain Eoin Morgan batting at three. However, that wasn’t enough to prevent a comfortable defeat at home to Surrey in the London derby.
THE PREDICTION
One team comes into this on the back of a 38-run victory whilst the other comes in after a 54-run defeat. Kent’s ability to restrict Hampshire to less than 140 was impressive and they will fancy their chances of doing similar against a fragile Middlesex batting order in which the top three contributed reasonably well but the rest of the side managed to score a combined 31 runs between seven players. A home win seems likely.
