THE LOWDOWN
The home team come into this on the back of a seven-run defeat away to Somerset which means they have won just one of their Blast matches so far this season. The Hampshire Hawks, led by James Vince, have been reliant on his runs alongside Joe Weatherley and D’Arcy Short whilst Mason Crane is the only bowler to take more than four wickets so far this season. They come up against a similarly underperforming giant of a county in Middlesex who have been poor in all formats for a couple of years now. They did manage to pick up a surprise victory at home to Glamorgan at the weekend, though, winning by seven wickets.
THE PREDICTION
Despite that victory for the Londoners at the weekend against Glamorgan, they will still come into this as the underdogs. Hampshire have the edge due to the potential of Vince and Short clicking with some depth in the bowling and batting but neither department is working for the Hawks yet this season. Given that, it is a close call but Hampshire will be the favourites in a game likely to be low-scoring between two fairly poor white-ball sides.
