THE PREDICTION
After surprisingly everyone last week by winning twice in London against Surrey and Middlesex, Essex Eagles were brought back down to earth at home by a DLS defeat at the hands of fierce rivals Kent Spitfires. Simon Harmer’s side have an abysmal record at Chelmsford, having failed to win a T20 Blast fixture on their own ground since back in 2019. This bodes well for Somerset, who despite losing to the Eagles at Taunton in their first match of this year’s competition, head into this one having won their last three successive completed games with two washouts giving them a tally of eight points accrued from the last ten available to them. When taking into account the lack of quality Essex Eagles possess within their squad in this form of cricket, Somerset are expected to add another two points to their overall South Group total here.
