THE LOWDOWN
Birmingham Bears’ reliance and reluctance on Sam Hain is, of course, a negative but such is his quality it remains a positive because the Bears head into every batting innings ‘with a chance’. The Bears come into this on the back of three successive defeats, though. They come up against a Yorkshire Vikings side that have lost players throughout the Blast due to international commitments with England. However, they remain exceptionally impressive and their 82-run win over the Northamptonshire Steelbacks at the weekend was an example of their quality depth.
THE PREDICTION
Adam Lyth, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Dawid Malan, Joe Root, David Willey, Lockie Ferguson, Adil Rashid, Dominic Bess, Jonny Bairstow and Gary Ballance. International level talent in abundance has featured for the Vikings in this tournament and yet it is ‘the others’ continuing to provide the goods for Yorkshire. All-rounder Jordan Thompson and young batsman have been outstanding. Birmingham won’t have to face too many stars but they will still be the underdogs in this match.
