With Punjab set to secure their place in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy knockout stage as Group A winners, this is a do or die match for defending champions Karnataka if they wish to join Punjab as one of the two second placed sides with the highest number of points. They face an already eliminated Uttar Pradesh. Whilst they have nothing to play form, Uttar Pradesh will play with freedom and contain the in-form Karan Sharma within the batting ranks. However, their strength in depth leaves much to be desired and if Karnataka can dismiss Sharma relatively cheaply, they should prove too strong for Uttar Pradesh in this one.
