THE PREDICTION

With perfect records and ten wins between the two teams over the course of the group stage, this looks set to be a cracking Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy quarter final encounter between Group E winners Haryana and Group C winners Baroda. The latter boast the better net run-rate heading into this encounter, however the Baroda camp has been heavily disrupted since the conclusion of the group stage. Firstly, squad player Deepak Hooda was suspended for the rest of the season and sent home for “indiscipline”. Secondly, captain Krunal Pandya has left the Baroda camp following the death of his father and will not feature in this match. Whilst the reasons are totally understandable, losing their captain is a savage blow for Baroda, who will have to adjust their line-up in the all-rounder’s absence. Haryana may well be set to take advantage and with a consistent playing XI in fantastic form, it is them who are expected to come out on top here.
