THE PREDICTION
Chhattisgarh were punished for a slow start with the ball and then bat as they were defeated by Himachal in their opening Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy contest. They allowed their opponents to make it to 70 before taking their first wicket and then fell to 13/3 in their pursuit of 174. Amandeep Khare did not deserve to be on the losing team having scored a brilliant unbeaten 87 but his efforts proved in vain as his side fell short by 32 runs. They now take on a Maharashtra side that also fell to defeat in their first contest after they were bowled out for 128 in pursuit of 158 against Gujarat but with both teams looking to respond to their respective opening displays, this one could go either way. Khare will be looking to build on his excellent knock but if Maharashtra can remove him early on, they should be able put their loss behind them by coming out on top of this one.
