THE PREDICTION
Chandigarh were agonisingly close to reaching the Super League phase last year but lost out on net run rate so they will be hoping to go one further at least in this edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. They will be confident of getting off to an opening win against Nagaland here who have a couple of talented players, but otherwise lack depth in this format of the game. Veteran all-rounder Stuart Binny was one of their two key men last season along with Shrikant Mundhe but not enough of their team-mates contributed sufficiently. Unless that is remedied, another tough campaign is in store and that should play into the hands of the hosts who do have greater depth. Home win.
