THE PREDICTION
Haryana went all the way to the semi-finals last season and after posting 194/8 from their 20 overs against eventual winners Karnataka, they will have expected to have gone on to reach the final. Instead, their strong bowling attack was dominated by Devdutt Padikkal and company and they were beaten by eight wickets with five overs to spare, so they ultimately fell well short. They now embark on a new campaign and they will be keen to go even further this time around. They still possess plenty of quality in their ranks with their bowling attack led by Yuzvendra Chahal, Amish Mishra, Jayant Yadav and Harshal Patel. With Rahul Tewatia in sparkling form in the last IPL, they will have plenty of confidence coming into this year’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. They face an Andhra side that won three and lost three last year as they failed to make it out of the group stage. They will hope to be more competitive this year but they ultimately lack the quality to compete with the likes of Haryana. Expect the visitors to open with a comprehensive win with their bowlers winning the game for them.
