THE PREDICTION
Sussex have taken huge steps to prioritise youth in all-forms of their cricket including that of the red ball side, which has led to captain Ben Brown leaving the club for Hampshire. Incomings include bowlers Steven Finn and Fynn Hudson-Prentice, whilst Pakistan wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan is among the most exciting overseas signings made this season. However, both Rizwan and Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara will miss the opening round of games, which does not bode well for an inexperienced Sussex against Division Two title favourites Nottinghamshire. Steven Mullaney’s side have all the tools required to finish top of the table fairly comfortably, with a top-drawer pace bowling attack including Stuart Broad, who is no doubt highly motivated after being dropped from the England Test squad. Combine that with the likes of Joe Clarke, Haseeb Hameed, Ben Duckett and Ben Slater, all of whom are capable of big runs in Division Two and any outcome other than a Notts win in this one would be seen as a surprise.
