THE TEAM NEWS
WELLINGTON FIREBIRDS
- Wellington Firebirds will have to settle for third spot on the ladder in the Super Smash despite overcoming Auckland Aces last time out but they will be eager to build on that success ahead of the knockout stages.
- The Firebirds were sensational in that contest, running out eight-wicket winners as they chased down 122 with just under six overs to spare and this would really lay down a marker were they to back that up here.
NORTHERN BRAVE
- Northern Brave have been the best side in the Super Smash this season and having lost just one of their nine games so far, they have secured the top spot on the ladder ahead of this final game of the round robin.
- They have won their last seven and will be keen to extend that winning streak ahead of the upcoming final which they will be confident of doing so having chased down 174 to see off Canterbury Kings and claim an eight-wicket win.
THE PREDICTION
Wellington Firebirds and Northern Brave meet in the final match of
the Super Smash round robin in what could turn out to be a preview of
the final. The Firebirds were impressive in their latest outing but the
Brave have won seven straight matches which makes them favourites. They
sensationally chased down a big total last time out and did so in
relatively comfortable fashion in what was another impressive success.
They may one eye on the final already but having performed so
consistently of throughout the campaign, they are favoured to extend
their winning streak to eight games.
