• After being bowled out for just 107 in 17.2 overs, it’s a testament to the bowling attack that they almost dragged the Kings through and a big improvement will be required here with the bat.

OTAGO VOLTS

• Otago Volts are coming off the back of a hammering at the hands of Central Stags, losing by 53 runs in Napier and remain with just one win to their name after four Super Smash fixtures.
• Captain Hamish Rutherford was dismissed for just seven against the Stags and the Volts will be hoping that he can take advantage of the powerplay here with his big hitting, whilst the bowlers will need to tighten up after being taken to the cleaners in their last game.

THE PREDICTION

Canterbury Kings will have been devastated to have lost out against Northern Brave and it’ll be interesting to see how they respond to such a defeat here. The expectation is that they respond well, the fact that they came so close to winning in the first place should be seen as a positive. The batting unit of the Kings is expected to come out firing in this one with a point to prove and could well take advantage of an Otago Volts bowling attack who have already conceded two scores of 180 or more this season. With that in mind and provided Canterbury Kings’ bowling unit can repeat their performance against the Brave, then they should go on to win this match.
