THE LOWDOWN

ISLAMABAD UNITED

  • Islamabad United were pushed to limit by Quetta Gladiators last time out, but managed to edge them out, securing a crucial two points in the process.
  • Azam Khan continues to prove worth his weight in gold for Islamabad in their middle order and it was his 72 not out that helped steer his side home by just two wickets against Quetta.

MULTAN SULTANS

  • Multan Sultans’ place in the playoffs is not yet secure following consecutive defeats and whilst they are still expected to make the top four, it’s crucial that they head into the latter stages of the 2023 PSL with momentum on their side.
  • Most recently, Multan were beaten for the second time this year by Lahore Qalandars, this time by 21 runs as they failed to get close to Lahore’s score of 180/9.

THE PREDICTION

This serves as a real opportunity for Islamabad United, who have now won their last two games, compared to their opponents losing their last two. Momentum can be crucial at this stage of the competition and tight victories such as the one Islamabad accrued over Quetta this past weekend can do wonders for the confidence of their squad. Provided they can dismiss Multan star Mohammad Rizwan early on, it would be no surprise to see Islamabad continue their recent winning run and overcome the Sultans.
