PESHAWAR ZALMI
- Peshawar Zalmi head into this eliminator having finished third-place in the group stage of the Pakistan Super League, level on points with their opponents here but with a superior net run rate.
- Their last match saw them rack up 232/6 against Islamabad United, however it was in a losing effort with Islamabad having secured 247/2, the highest score in PSL history.
- Following that performance with the ball, Peshawar may look to make changes to their bowling unit, but captain Wahab Riaz will lead the attack as normal and the fast bowler needs to put in a good performance for his side here.
KARACHI KINGS
- A 14-run victory for Karachi Kings over Quetta Gladiators saw them qualify for this eliminator match in dramatic circumstances, overtaking Lahore Qalandars on net run rate.
- The Kings have now won successive Pakistan Super League fixtures, with their bowlers having successfully strangled their opposition in both games after setting two successive scores of 176 with the bat.
- Muhammad Abbas Afridi was given an opportunity against Quetta, however captain Imad Wasim may look to reinstate fast bowler Arshad Iqbal into the team against Peshawar.
THE PREDICTION
Whilst Peshawar Zalmi finished above Karachi Kings in the table at the end of the group stage, it is the Kings who enter this match in better form and it is important to note that both sides did finish on the same number of points with an identical record of winning five and losing five of their ten matches. However, momentum goes a long way in knockout cricket and that could well be the case here when considering that Karachi Kings look to have found a winning formula at the perfect time with their big hitting middle order in particular starting to find some form. With that in mind, a Karachi Kings victory should be seriously considered here.
