THE TEAM NEWS
MULTAN SULTANS
- Multan Sultans will be disappointed with their start to PSL 6 having lost three of their opening four matches so far but there have been signs of improvements in their last couple of games to give them some confidence.
- The defeat last time out despite having posted 195/6 was a blow but Chris Lynn finally got some runs as he smashed 32 from 14 balls and their batting is looking strong overall with Rizwan and Vince in sparkling form still.
- Their bowling at the death especially continues to underwhelm and that is one area they have to improve on so Sohail Khan, Shahnawaz Dhani and Sohail Tanvir are all under some pressure to raise their game depending on who is selected.
QUETTA GLADIATORS
- Quetta Gladiators’ miserable start to the season continued on Tuesday as they were outplayed by Islamabad United in the delayed match and that will not help their confidence at all.
- Their batting was at fault for that particular loss with only Sarfaraz Khan producing a substantial knock on a high-scoring pitch so they desperately need Faf du Plessis and Cameron Delport to find some form quickly if they are to snap this four-game losing streak.
- The bowling attack was taken apart by Islamabad’s Paul Stirling on Tuesday so rotations could well be on the cards as so many of their youthful pacemen especially looking incredibly low on confidence right now.
THE PREDICTION
Even at this early stage of the PSL, this feels like a make-or-break game for both teams who desperately need a win to kick-start their campaign. There is much more positivity around the Sultans as their batting especially is looking strong with several players in good form. The same cannot be said for the Gladiators with not enough of their key men in any real form. That could of course change here and turn around but the form book is certainly on the Sultans side. With neither team’s bowling attack convincing, the decisive factor should lie in the Sultans’ superior batting and they get the nod here.
