THE TEAM NEWS

ISLAMABAD UNITED

  • This represents Islamabad United’s first fixture since Monday when they recorded an outstanding run chase vs Karachi Kings, reaching their target of 191 with just two wickets lost and more than an over to spare.
  • Opener Colin Munroe has been superb since the resumption of the Pakistan Super League and led the chase again with an unbeaten 88 runs from 56 balls, whilst Iftikhar Ahmed continued his fine form with the bat, hitting 71 not out with five fours and five sixes in a partnership worth 150 with Munroe.
  • Islamabad United’s top order batting is the main reason why they currently sit top of the Pakistan Super League and they aren’t expected to make any adjustments in this match.

PESHAWAR ZALMI

  • Peshawar Zalmi like Islamabad are coming off the back to victory against Karachi Kings, in their case winning by six wickets after restricting their opponents to just 108/9.
  • The wickets were shared out among three bowlers, with captain Wahab Riaz and leg-spin bowler Abrar Ahmed picking up three wickets each, whilst medium fast bowler Sameen Gul took two wickets at an economy rate of just 4.33 runs an over.
  • Opener Hazratullah starred with the bat after hitting 63 runs from just 26 balls and he is almost certain to keep his place in the team, with Haider Ali set to continue at number three.

THE PREDICTION

If Peshawar Zalmi are to emerge victorious here, their bowlers will have to put on the same level of performance as they did against Karachi Kings, however in Islamabad United they face a top order with multiple players in good form and not carried by a single batter in the same way that Karachi are by Babar Azam. Ultimately, when taking into account the form of this Islamabad United side and the power of their batting, they have to be favoured for victory here as Peshawar Zalmi’s youthful bowling lineup may find themselves on the end of some rough treatment, especially when bowling against such an experienced batting unit.
