MULTAN SULTANS
- Multan Sultans secured their place in the final of the Pakistan Super League thanks to a dominant display against Islamabad United and they will look to make their maiden appearance in the showpiece of this event count.
- The Sultans come into this having won five of their last six matches, the latest of which came against Islamabad in a 31-run success with Sohaib Maqsood (59), Johnson Charles (41) and Khushdil Shah (42*) leading the way with the bat.
- They helped their side to 180/5 before three wickets apiece from Sohail Tanvir and Blessing Muzarabani, the former going for just 17 runs, helped remove United for just 149 and that strong performance sets them up nicely for this contest.
PESHAWAR ZALMI
- Peshawar Zalmi produced a brilliant display to book their spot in the Pakistan Super League final for the fourth time and they will be confident of securing a second title after their demolition job on Islamabad United in the second eliminator.
- The bowling unit were doing a superb job as they restricted Islamabad to 110/8 but they failed to complete the job as they allowed their opponents to each 174/9 thanks to a late flourish with the bat.
- However, that did not deter Zalmi from chasing down that total with ease as Hazratullah Zazai (66), Jonathan Wells (55*) and Shoaib Mailk (32*) all played their part to help Peshawar advance to the final, the latter’s knock coming in just ten deliveries.
THE PREDICTION
Multan Sultans will compete in their first Pakistan Super League
final in what should be a pulsating clash with Peshawar Zalmi. Both
teams secured their spot in the final with wins over Islamabad United
and the pair did so in impressive fashion too. The batting of the two
teams is likely to be decisive in this clash with both possessing the
ability to put on a big score. However, the Sultans look more of a
threat with the ball with leading wicket-taker Shahnawaz Dahini in their
ranks and despite Wahab Riaz only two wickets behind with 18, Multan
look to have the better balance across the board and they can consign
Zalmi to a third final defeat.
