UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
- United Arab Emirates come into the T20 World Cup as huge underdogs and reaching the Super 12 stage would be considered a wonderful achievement for them, but they are the early favourites to finish bottom of their group that includes the likes of Sri Lanka, so have their work cut out to prove many people wrong.
- Only one warm-up match was possible for UAE ahead of the tournament due to bad weather, but Muhammad Waseem showed what he could do opening the batting, striking an unbeaten 69 vs West Indies and he could have a big role to play.
NETHERLANDS
- Netherlands will be looking to right the wrongs of last year in what was a nightmare T20 World Cup for them which ended at this stage with them losing all three of their group games, including being bowled out for just 44 batting first against Sri Lanka.
- The evergreen Ryan ten Doeschate may have finally retired, but in captain Scott Edwards, Roelof van der Merwe and exciting young talent Bas de Leede, Netherlands still contains some very handy cricketers among their side.
THE PREDICTION
A determined Netherlands are expected to come out of the traps flying from the first ball whether they are batting or bowling first. The pain of last year will no doubt still be raw in their minds and their squad is far better than what they showed back in 2021. A nice blend of experience and youth is likely to serve them well and whilst United Arab Emirates showed that they are not to be underestimated after pushing West Indies hard last Monday, Netherlands should have enough quality to win this one.
