THE LOWDOWN

NAMIBIA

  • Namibia’s loss vs Scotland means they enter this final round of group games needing to win, which will more than likely be enough for them in finish in the top two places in Group A due to their excellent net-run-rate.
  • Whilst the middle order of Namibia has impressed so far, the top order has struggled and the pressure is on openers Michael van Lingen and Divan la Cock in particular to get their side off to a strong start with the bat whether they be setting or chasing a target.

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

  • United Arab Emirates fell to a second defeat of the group stage against Sri Lanka, leaving their hopes of ‘Super 12’ qualification as good as over due to their poor net-run-rate even with they were to win here.
  • A big bright spot from that game vs Sri Lanka was a memorable hat-trick taken by Karthik Meiyappan, dismissing Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Charith Asalanka and Dasun Shanaka in three consecutive deliveries.

THE PREDICTION

United Arab Emirates’ batting has been their weak spot throughout the group stage and that is expected to continue in this match. They may accrue a higher score than the 111 and 73 that they have recorded so far, but either way, whatever they gain is unlikely to be enough to topple Namibia, who contain far more depth within their batting, not to mention power hitting. Expect Namibia to respond well to their loss against Netherlands and win this one.
